About the author

Fahd Bishara

A Kuwaiti historian and associate professor of Indian Ocean history, he holds the Ruhollah Ramazani Chair in Arabian Peninsula and Gulf Studies at the University of Virginia (USA). He received his PhD in history from Duke University in 2012 and his MA in Gulf Studies from the University of Exeter.
